PKI Procedures: Your CA Root Key Generation
eValid8 follows strict industry guidelines for certification authority key
generation signing ceremonies. This ISO 21188 framework for policies and
procedures has strict events and procedures that must be followed. In
addition, eValid8 certified auditor witness experts have performed in excess of
50 CA key generation events. Those lessons, experience, and guidance
provided by ISO 21188; we can ensure your significant key generation event is a
controlled, well scripted, cleanly documented and legally presentable
evidential event. We digitally sign all our documents with the very
technology you are creating.
Generation
of the root key pair creates the root certificate. The root certificate is used
to sign subordinate authority certificates and, at the end of the chain of
trust, end-entity certificates are signed through a chain leading back to the
root certificate. If the underlying root key cannot be completely trusted, there
is no trust in the subsequent activities of either the PKI system or in the
transactions that the PKI system assures.
